Eli Wong sees red over 'political violence', slams Zahrain

Selangor state executive councillor and Bukit Lanjan rep Elizabeth Wong has called the resurfacing of her sex scandal a 'discrimination and prejudice against women victims'.

"It comes as no surprise that Barisan Nasional continues to subject me to political violence by assaulting and violating my personal life, by continuously victimising victims," said Wong in a statement today.

Wong, whose lewd pictures were made public more than a year ago, was the subject of attack by pro-BN Bayan Baru independent MP Zahrain Mohd Hashim yesterday.
Former PKR parliamentarian Zahrain accused his former boss Anwar Ibrahim of trying to cover up the scandal. He alleged that Anwar had promised to show them a video involving Wong performing oral sex but had yet to do so.

Anwar today denied the allegation and claimed that Zahrain was hired to assasinate his character. [Read: Anwar has not seen exco's 'sex video']
Meanwhile, an incensed Wong said that she wasn't surprised that Barisan Nasional is continuing to subject her to 'political assault'.

“While Zahrain and his team were wallowing in gutter politics yesterday, I was proposing in the Selangor state exco meeting to address a critical national issue, of outstanding students needing our help to further their education,” she said.
She pointed out that it has been exactly fourteen months since she returned to work with the Selangor government after taking leave last year.

When the scandal broke, Wong volunteered to resign but Selangor menteri besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim decided to retain her on the basis that the scandal was a personal issue.

“It was the hardest decision I've had to make and it hasn't gotten easier,” she said.
“But I also made a decision to continue serving my constituents, my state and country, and to send a message to all victims of criminal intimidation to stand firm and not retreat into silence.”

“This is why I returned to office, to show Pakatan Rakyat policies and politics are for a better Malaysia. And I now call upon the people to reject discrimination and prejudice against women victims.”

She also said Anwar and other PKR leaders have always been supportive of her, unlike what was claimed by Zahrain.

"Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim, Anwar Ibrahim and PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail have supported me from the very instance this issue surfaced," she said.
Wong have always maintained that the exposed pictures were taken without her consent.
