Najib to meet PAS if it recognises Umno’s Islamic credentials

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said he was ready to discuss with PAS issues concerning Muslims for the community’s well-being if PAS reciprocated.

He said, however, he was saddened by the derogatory remarks made by PAS leaders against Umno leaders and members.

“If they (PAS) want to do good, I am willing to discuss with PAS in the interest of Islam and the Muslim community.

“But I will not allow Umno to be insulted by anyone,” he said at a gathering and breaking of fast with the people at the Mara Junior Science College hall, here, today.

Najib said the meeting with PAS would have to focus on enhancing the position of Muslims in the country.

“For the discussion to be fruitful, PAS should not question the ‘akidah’ (faith) of Umno members as they are also Muslims.”

He said the matter should not be raised as it would not foster Muslim unity but would instead lead to disunity.

“Don’t question our faith as this will cause conflict in society.

“As PAS is championing Islam, it should not boast of being ‘warak’ (pious) and be judgemental of the faith of Muslims from other parties.

“Casting aspersion on our faith is not the duty of any individual but the domain of God. This is clearly spelt out in the Quran and Hadis (Prophet Muhammad’s sayings),” added Najib.

still trying to split PR. UMNO has money politics and PAS doesn't. what kind of Islam allows money politics? Ali Rustam is still CM...how can that be, while TBH was interrogated till wee hours of the morning over RM2,400 and RM112. PAS is honest, fair and you can see that at what is happening in Shah Alam.

let PR take over the country, at least we know it will be fair and honest and there will be far less corruption(i'd say zero) and tax payers money will go a long way. Just look at kelantan and Perak(under PAS MB)

So najib do not corrupt PAS with your virus

UMNO blatantly abuses authority and power that has been entrusted to it by the rakyat. The fact that it has not changed its spots is obvious to all in the recent cow-head incident and the subsequent Hindraf counter-protest. UMNO also blatantly turns a blind eye to corruption in high places. The fact that it has not changed its spots is obvious to all in Khir Toyo's RM20 million mansion in Shah Alam. Further, UMNO balantaly practices racial discrimination. The fact that it has not changed its spots is obvious to all in UMNO's continued emphasis on ketuanan Melayu in spite of the PM's 1Malaysia policy. Need we say more as to why PAS should not and will not recognise UMNO's Islamic credentials?
