Datuk Hasan Ali has defended his numerous appearances in Umno-linked media as the best way to reach out to a wide audience, regardless of their political loyalty.
The PAS central committee member said it was appropriate to make use of media like TV1, TV2 and TV3 as they had the greatest reach and were keen on giving space to “people like him”.
“Whoever can best spread the news, can reach the most people, that’s the media we will choose...,” he told reporters at his residence here today.
“If I only use PAS media, I can only reach PAS supporters. Umno supporters and others won’t be able to read it because of limited circulation.”
The Selangor executive councillor also criticised PAS party organ Harakah for allegedly sidelining him in favour of other factions within the party, even when he was still Selangor PAS chief.
“How much space did they allocate to me compared to others? Sometimes the space was given to (Pakatan Rakyat) component parties and not PAS people,” he said.
Hasan cited as an example Harakah’s interview with PAS deputy spiritual leader Datuk Dr Harun Din on the Damansara Utama Methodist Church (DUMC) raid in August, which had yet to published.
“Imagine, if the deputy spiritual leader can’t make it to print, Hasan Ali is only a small fry. If the big whales aren’t published, what about the small fry?” he said.
Hasan and former deputy president Nasharudin Mat Isa have criticised PAS for deviating from its Islamic agenda in interviews with Umno-linked dailies Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian.
Hasan has also been featured almost nightly on TV3, criticising the party that removed him as Selangor PAS chief after its general assembly in June.
PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat later urged party leaders to resolve their differences internally without airing their grouses in Umno-controlled media.

This idiot must be a secret agent of UMNO. Otherwise, no sensible PAS members want the main stream media. We know our main stream media is a one sided media, only report the bad side of the oposition.
hassan ali used to be involved with the Biro tata Negara - the brianwashing machine of the government in 70's and 80's..' So please understand his modus operandi...If he loves Islam more than he loves PAS and himself..then he should stop giving press conference to the main stream media. To other guys in PAS just refrain from arguing with this guy. he seems to have a different agenda. If you have been following his tantrums, then you ould realise his cunning plans!!
Why didn't the main stream gives media coverage to Anwar Ibrahim, Lim Guan Eng, Nurul Izzah and others about their achievements. What so great about Hassan Ali that the main stream media give him so much coverage. He is a nobody in PAS. He is almost at the bottom rung with no enough nomination. So why did the mainstream media gives him so much media attention. Isn't there an Agenda? Who will believe that there is no Agenda? Even a stupid fools knows there is an Agenda.
I can guarantee you Hasan Ali is challenging Pas to sack him so that his puppet master can use it to potray Pas as undemocratic and unsuitable to rule Putrajaya in GE13
