Anwar: It wasn’t me
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim denied today that he was the man filmed having sex with a woman in a hotel room on February 21, and called the emergence of the video recording today a “scurrilous attack” against him, his family and Pakatan Rakyat (PR).
“Yes, I deny sternly this scurrilous attack, I categorically deny it,” he told reporters this evening when asked point-blank if he was the man in the video recording.
He added that he was at home with his wife, Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, their children, grandchildren and members of his staff, on the night in question.
Anwar was speaking at a press conference called after a video recording showing a man resembling a senior Malay opposition leader having sex with a woman believed to be a prostitute from China emerged today.
“I was told the face in the video looked like me. However, the stomach of the man was much bigger than mine,” he said while showing reporters his abdomen.
The 21-minute-long recording was shown to members of the media this morning by a man who only identified himself as “Datuk T”.
“Datuk T” said that the February 21 video, which was timestamped from 10.23pm to 10.44pm, was from closed-circuit television camera recordings found in a hotel room in Kuala Lumpur.
This evening, Anwar called the video an attempt to stunt the progress of PR and himself.
“Don’t drag the public and the country into this dirty politics.
“The media screening this morning was arranged with such care. The screening was also held for senior mainstream media editors first, guarded by the elite Special Branch.
“I do not know who is ‘Datuk T’, who asked me and Azizah to resign. This shows clear political motive,” he said, referring Dr Wan Azizah, the PKR president.
He claimed the sex video had come as the sodomy charge against him was faltering
“I call for Pakatan Rakyat and the public in general not to be distracted by this new allegation but to concentrate on the battle in Sarawak so we can end the corrupt government of (Tan Sri) Abdul Taib Mahmud,” he said of the Sarawak chief minister.
The Sarawak state assembly was dissolved today, paving way for state polls next month.
The PKR de facto leader also said that he had been posting on Twitter, a social media platform, at the time of the alleged event and that PKR had kept a record of his tweets on the day.
PKR staff said that Anwar would lodge a police report in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow morning.
Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, in his recently released memoirs, alleged that his then deputy had propositioned four girls for sex in the 1990s.
Anwar, who is currently fighting a sodomy charge in court, had immediately denied the claims, calling the long-serving former PM a “blatant liar with selective amnesia”.
Most recently, current MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek was forced to resign as health minister after admitting to being caught in a sex tape that surfaced at the end of 2007.
In 1989, former MIC secretary-general D.P. Vijandran was forced to resign as Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker after a sex video controversy.

UMNO BN leaders and their accomplice should stop dragging our beloved country into this kind of shameful situation immediately. They should learn to practice only clean competition in politics.
The manner the video was released to the media and Datuk T giving an ultimatum for opposition leader and his wife to resign is suspicious.
Why was the video not handed over to the police?Isn't it an offense to screen a seks video publicly?
Is it related to the Sarawak elections,to stop Anwar campaigning?
The police must investigate without fear or favour which we doubt they would.
Shocking how low people can stoop to win an election.
Its definitely dirty trick when sarawak election around the corner.People by all means try to fix up certain influential politicians so as to damage their reputation. Its an easy way to get votes rather than to persude and cheat votes from Rakyat especially where majority of native sarawkians may I say not fully educated. How can it be happened when Anuar is still having solomy trial? Wait and see more tricks wll be coming up before election day!
On February 21st, DSAI was at home with his family.
So this video is a fake and created to tarnish the good name of DSAI & family.
What a sham for "Datuk T". Who is he trying to fool?
DSAI should consider suing him.
