We never banned political logos when we were in power – Khir Toyol

Share
Datuk Seri Dr Khir Toyo, the former Mentri Besar of Selangor has slammed Selangor state exco Ronnie Liu for his recent ‘misinterpretation’ of state by-laws after the latter announced the ban on the 1Malaysia logo on business advertisements imposed by the Pakatan Rakyat state government. Khir Toyo said that when he was the Mentri Besar, there were no such ruling that businesses are not allowed to display political logos in their advertisements. Instead, political banners were allowed by both the divide during his time.

He said “The by-laws did not mean that political parties could not post up their symbols or logos in business premises. Owners have a right to do so, if they wish. You can put anything in any premise as long as it is in Bahasa Malaysia. The only thing you cannot do is to put up logos on areas under the purview of the local municipal council- lamp posts, streets. I’m very sorry to say this, but Ronnie Liu is not a learned person on this matter, he seems to be uneducated on the local laws. Perhaps he should refer to a legal advisor. The by-laws, which were in place since 2007 was not “rigid” as it allowed business premises to display political allegiance as long as it did not “disturb the sensitivities of the many races in Selangor. This Ronnie Liu fellow, he probably did not read the by-laws, he does not seem to have a clue. Look, the business premises that put up any political logos, they must have gotten previous approval from local councils before putting it up. There was no problem before, so why now the havoc? The directive was given only recently by the Selangor government, a few months ago”

What a self proclaimed hero! Khir Toyo has been accused of courruption and now has come out to say Ronnie has not much education to understant the state's by laws. Ronnie however has made a about turn, but how about this umno dr? Now he comes out to give his 'right' ways of running the state when he was the mb, but refuses to admit his commiting the wrongs created during his terms in power as the menteri besar of the rich Selangor. Can we still put our trust in him after all the 'sins' commited by him have been exposed?
