Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, the Second Finance Minister has reported that even without implemented the recent subsidy rationalization, the government would still have a surplus of RM10billion and that the reason for the so-called cuts was to increase the efficiency of the country’s economy. He said "Taxes collected by the Customs Department and the Inland Revenue Board will be RM158 billion this year compared to RM148 billion projected when the 2010 Budget was tabled last year,"
Ahmad Husni added that “To achieve the objective of making Malaysia a high-income nation, the government had to transform the economy, making it a better-managed economy by 2020.” His deputy, Datuk Seri Awang Adek Hussin said that “The subsidy reduction for sugar would minimise smuggling activities because it would make it prohibitively costly for smugglers to do so. This means that sugar can be obtained easily in the local market. Before the subsidy adjustment, there was a huge difference in the price of sugar, which was RM1.65 per kg in the local market compared to RM2.50 per kg in the neighbouring country.”

KU LI HAS RIGHTFULLY POINTED OUT ON THIS ISSUE....NOT ADDRESSING THE COUNTRY'S ECONOMY IN A CORRECT MANNER..... WHEREAS, MASSIVE CORRUPTIONS & QUESTIONABLE TENDERS & PURCHASES & PUBLIC ASSISTANCE TO MULTI CORPORATIONS LIKE IPP/ GOVT LOOSING COMPANIES(FELDA).....THESE ALONE TAKE AWAY BILLIONS FROM THE PUBLIC !!!!
NEED THE REST OF THE POPULATION EXPECTED TO DIG INTO THEIR POCKETS TO PAY FOR ALL THESE 'CORRUPTIONS ' GOING ON FOR SO MANY YEARS ????
TOO MUCH IS TOO MUCH !!!!!! DOWN WITH BN !!!!!!!! RESPOND WITH OUR VOTES TO THROW THEM OUT WITH OUR VOTES.......THEY ARE OTHERS LIKE PKR,DAP & PAS WHO CAN DO A BETTER JOB !!!!
We have money to buy billions of dollar submarine, expenses for the MB to visit Disneyland, spend millions for palaces but we have no money to subsidies the rakyat. What anger me is that the Straits Times dare report that our prices are still one of teh lowest in the region. Why did they not report that our car taxes are teh higest in this region, our yearly driving licenses are also the highest and highest toll road in this region. With the saving in car taxes and extra in bank hire purchase camparing Thaialnd and Malaysia for a Typical Toyota Vios, I can have free petrol for 5 years... what have the Minister have to say to that
