The appointment of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the advisor of PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) is seen as an economic gimmick by the opposition, so say Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim. The MP of Jelebu, who is also the Minister of Information Communication and Culture has slammed the gimmick after the announcement made by Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, the Menteri Besar of Selangor who appointed Anwar as the economic Advisor of the state. Rais said “The economic gimmick ‘could sometimes be sold, but most of the time it is not saleable’ The question was what could Anwar offer to the Selangor government because he had not achieved anything when he was in charge of the federal coffers. Selangor had a strong economy and Anwar's appointment was certainly a political gimmick to show that the PKR could survive in a new field with a new image.”
