Barisan Nasional (BN) would not take the opposition lightly or decelerate preparations for the Bagan Pinang by-election although early indications point to a continuous support for BN.
Umno Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin said BN is confident of gaining the peoples support for the Oct 11 by-election although the opposition had been trying to wrest the seat.
“We know that an election campaign held by opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (Parti Keadilan Rakyat advisor) two or three days ago in Bagan Pinang had only received lukewarm support.
“That is an indication that BN was still strong here but we are not going to take things lightly and hope to put extra effort in our campaigns. There will be a big presence of the Youth, from Negeri Sembilan and other states,” he told reporters after handing out Hari Raya goodies to police personnel at the Dang Wangi police station here today.
According to Khairy, reports from the Negeri Sembilan Umno Liaison Committee headed by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, was clear that the BN election machinery was ready at every stage.
Khairy added that apart from handing out contributions to the Dang Wangi police station, the Umno Youth had also made similar contributions to the Hang Tuah Fire and Rescue Department and the Emergency Unit of the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
The Bagan Pinang state seat fell vacant following the death of its incumbent Assemblyman, Azman Mohammad Noor (BN), on Sept 4.
The Election Commission had set Oct 3 for nomination and Oct 11 for polling.
The Bagan Pinang Electoral Roll consists of 13,664 registered voters, comprising 9,060 ordinary voters and 4,604 postal voters.

If you are so confident, why do you all have so many "postal votes" standing by ?
Umno will survive only with the postal votes
He was not confident. He was trying to signal others that nothing is impossible for PKR to bet these big buaya because mostly the peoples can judge and see how these monsters reacted all these while. All are very scary day after day.
A leader must display confidence of winning to boost the spirit of his party workers who will work for money $$$$!. Khairy should know the ground has shifted even in Negeri 9. People are sick and tired of the BN style of governance, and want to see real change. You can keep on dreaming, Encik Khairy/ That's your right' but the rakyat will be the one to decide the fate of the seat. My gut feeling says the BN is going to be annihilated come the bye-election. Bye-bye BN!
